How To Sell At Auction

By combining personal, one-to-one service with a team of internationally experienced specialists and comprehensive, 21st century marketing and promotion, Freeman's brings to its consignors a unique and extremely effective platform for the sale of their fine art, antiques, jewelry and books.

Auction Estimate
Prior to accepting a consignment we would examine your property to determine if it is appropriate for sale at Freeman's, and if so to provide you with the fair market value. These valuations are free of charge and can be conducted in several ways:

Photographs
Photographs with descriptions, including dimensions, markings, medium, condition and provenance can be sent via email to jmiller@freemansauction.com or by mail to the attention of the Jeff Miller, Consignment Coordinator. Please be sure to include all your contact information. The appropriate specialist will review the information and you will receive a timely response. Estimates given based upon the examination of photographs alone are not binding, and may be subject to change upon first-hand examination.

By Appointment
If you prefer, we can schedule a private appointment for you with a qualified member of staff at either your location or ours. Please contact Jeff Miller, our Consignment Coordinator at 267.414.1239 or jmiller@freemansauction.com to schedule an appointment.

By Phone
If you wish to discuss your property with a specialist, please contact us at 215.563.9275 and ask to be directed to the appropriate department.

Consignment
Expert cataloguing and comprehensive marketing - incorporating direct mail, print advertising, promotional events and industry-leading utilization of internet resources - ensure that your consignment will be exposed to the largest possible audience of qualified buyers.

Our Client Services Director Mary Maguire Carroll will send you a detailed consignment schedule along with a formal consignment contract for your review and signature. They are available to answer your questions at 267.414.1236 or mmaguire@freemansauction.com.

Charges
Standard charges include consignor's commission and insurance, but may also include fees for transportation and marketing. Exact terms may be discussed with your specialist contact. Potential consignments of significant value will be addressed by a comprehensive proposal.

Transportation
We need to have your property on our premises far enough in advance of the sale to catalogue, photograph and promote it properly - usually at least six weeks prior to the sale date. We are happy to assist with transportation arrangements. Please contact our Property Controller Bethany Mobbs at 267.414.1236 or bmobbs@freemansauction.com to discuss.

Pre-Sale Notification
Prior to any sale you will receive your complimentary catalogue along with a pre-sale notification indicating which lots will be offered in the upcoming auction. Each lot will have the final pre-sale low to high estimates which have been determined by the specialist after thorough examination of your property.

Reserves
When appropriate, a reserve (a price below which an item will not be sold) may be placed upon individual items. Reserves cannot exceed low estimate and will not be accepted for items valued at less than $1,000.

Settlement
Payment will be sent thirty five days after the auction for all lots sold and collected along with a detailed settlement statement.
