Our specialists are pleased to provide expert advice to museums and non-profits seeking to acquire individual works or collections of fine art, decorative arts and furniture offered at our auctions. Headquartered on Chestnut Street in the heart of Philadelphia, Freeman’s offers over 30 live in-house auctions a year, in categories such as fine and modern art, furniture and decorative arts ranging from Pennsylvania folk to Asian antiquities, jewelry, rare books and manuscripts, Oriental rugs, silver, and more.
We are pleased to provide museum curators, senior staff and non-profit institutions with complimentary advice and services concerning the possible sale and marketing of a single item, or an entire collection. Freeman's is well positioned to ensure that deaccessioned fine art and decorative arts realize exceptional prices at auction. Because of our marketing alliance with Lyon & Turnbull, the United Kingdom's fastest growing auctioneers, we are especially well positioned to insure that your valuable art and antiques realize the best prices at auction.
Freeman's provides museums and non-profits with written professional appraisals for charitable contributions, insurance, and loans, all in conformity with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Freeman’s appraises fine art, antiques, furniture, jewelry, collectibles and general contents.
Each report is bound and contains a detailed, illustrated inventory. For convenience, reports can be sent electronically or we can provide a CD of the appraisal. Our completion time is 4-6 weeks after our initial visit and we are always happy to discuss adjusting our completion schedule to meet the client’s needs. All appraisals are confidential and our appraisers are discreet. Charges for an appraisal whether it is for fair market or retail replacement value are based on time and incurred expenses but never on the value of the property. We are happy to provide quotes before scheduling an appraisal and upon request, will perform a complementary on site ”walk- through” to provide an more accurate estimate.
From private social functions for you and your patrons to special lectures hosted by one of our specialists on a topic of your choice. Freeman's can provide a variety of activities from special event lectures, fundraisers, and charity auctioneers for your institution.
