Gemma comes to Hindman from Christie’s, where she oversaw the firm’s private collections and decorative arts division in New York and was one of their leading auctioneers. Among the numerous world auction records achieved under her gavel, she is one of the few auctioneers in the world to have sold an individual work of art for more than $90 million. In 2019 she presided over the most valuable collection of musical instruments ever sold at auction with The David Gilmour Guitar collection and in 2021 she was the auctioneer for two landmark various owner contemporary art evening sales, the second of which was a “white glove” sale and set 10 new auction world records in one night. Gemma brings strong expertise in market strategy and project management, having delivered complex, multi-category collections to market on behalf of major collectors and family estates in both the United States and United Kingdom.
