Freeman’s presents Art and Design, a sale of fine furniture, design, and artwork by some of the most sought-after names of 20thcentury artistic production, led by a selection of walnut George Nakashima furniture from private family collections. Collectors of 20th century furniture will also find chairs from Charles and Ray Eames, a Paul Evans coffee table, and works by Philip Lloyd Powell.
A highlight of the auction is a selection of four Tiffany Studios lamps from The Estate of Gabriele Lee; the sale also includes several works of the Studio’s signature blown favrile glass. Several elegant works of wrought iron design by Philadelphia master metalworker Samuel Yellin, many of them sketches for subsequent public works.
Art and Design features an ample selection of paintings, works on paper, and prints and multiples from highly sought-after artists, including four playful Takashi Murakami prints, two works by Alex Katz, a David Hockney catalogue and bookstand, Salvador Dalí’s Birth of Venus (Torso), and two Renoir prints, as well as highlights from esteemed Pennsylvania artists Edna Andrade and Warren Rohrer.
