The Gilded Age

14th Jul, 2021 10:00 EST
Freeman's
Freeman’s Gilded Age auction will feature furnishings, fine art, exquisite works of silver and porcelain, and more—pieces that exemplify the opulent Gilded Age, an era that spanned the years between the Civil War and the early 20th century in America. The rapid economic growth of the era resulted in lush, grandiose interiors, characterized by luxurious and varied textures and gilded surfaces, furnishings with intricate details, and fine craftsmanship. Drawing from refined, established European traditions while balancing an increasingly modern American sensibility, the collections and interiors of the Gilded Age had a distinctly transatlantic aesthetic.

Gilded Age will feature works from era-defining makers and studios; highlights include a Tiffany Studios prism hanging light, Puiforcat sterling silver flatware, and a Carlo Bugatti sellette.

Exhibition is open by appointment only at our 1600 West Girard Avenue location July 9-13. To make an appointment, please contact Laura  at lsevelis@freemansauction.com
