NOTE:
Freeman's is pleased to offer an fine group of George Sotter paintings from the estate of Charles William Hargens III. Hargen's father was Charles William Hargens Jr., a Philadelphia illustrator whose work graced the covers of The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's. A friend of the Pennsylvania Impressionists, Hargen's moved to Bucks County to be near Sotter and Daniel Garber, Hargen's first instructor at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Charles Jr. was particularly close with George Sotter, with whom he regularly exchanged sketches as well as finished works.
