Albumen prints on original publishers' card stock mounts (27). 12 measure 8 ½ x 5 inches (216 x 127 mm); 13 measure 8 x 5 inches (203 x 127 mm); 2 measure 6 ½ x 4 ¼ inches (165 x 108 mm). Moderate spotting to card stock, sometimes affecting photographs, some dampstaining, pencil annotations on recto of some images, small hole in cardstock of most photographs (not affecting image). Each image numbered on verso with ownership, "Property of E. W. Snelling / Lovell, Wyo," in blue and black ink, remnants of red and green stickers unsuccessfully removed on some images.
The photographs depict individual Sioux men and women, groups of Sioux men and women, Sioux warriors, sun dancers, groups of U.S. cavalry soldiers, Sioux reservation views, and scene and photos of the Battle's aftermath. Figures represented include: Chief Sitting Bull, "Buffalo Bill," Jack Red Cloud, Chief Crazy Bear, Chief Hollow Wood, 7th Calvary, and Sioux Indians. The subjects are frequently identified in the negative.
