A Danish silver covered drinking horn on stand
The horn by Anton Michelsen (1809-1877), the stand marked "AD," Copenhagen, Denmark, bearing date mark for 1855

The horn with gilt-washed interior, the exterior elaborately decorated with registers of scrolled leafage and Renaissance style figures holding armorial shields and mandolins under arched portals, the wider end with green man masque, owl-form cap and lid with finial in the form of a Classical winged figure pouring into a libation cup, supported on shaped base with stands in the form of lions holding shields and griffins, horn marked with Danish date mark and maker's mark, "Michelsen," the base marked with Danish date mark and maker's mark, "AD."
