NOTE:
Born in the Philadelphia suburbs, Wagner enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1879 and became a celebrated pupil of Thomas Eakins. Wagner was influenced by the art of William Glackens and John Sloan, introducing a taste of urban realism into the otherwise rural idyllic landscapes typical of the Pennsylvania Impressionists.
