Carl Friedrich Bucherer established his watch and jewelry business in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1888. By 1919, Bucherer had created his first ladies' watch line, designing pieces in the Art Deco style that was popular at the time.
By 1968, Bucherer had established his brand as one of the top three Swiss manufacturers of certified chronometers, and became part of the Swiss consortium for the development of the first quartz movements in wristwatches by 1969.
Bucherer is still owned by members of the family, making it one of the oldest Swiss watchmakers still owned by the founding family, with Jörg G. Bucherer as the current chairman of the board.
Bucherer watches are typically designed with a chronograph, flyback, tachymeter, and tourbillon, and often include displays such as a large date and day, power reserve, 24 hours, moon phases, multiple time zones, calendar, and perpetual calendar.
