According to the Archivio, the present lot is the second sculpture created by the artist from this edition of two. Rather than using moulds to cast his sculpture, Consagra constructed his creations by hand. Therefore, the two pieces in this edition differ from one another slightly. The present example, executed in 1963, includes details within the arrangement of the welded bronze bars at top left that differ somewhat from those in the first edition, which was created in 1962.
