Note
Sarah "Sally" Hays married merchant Solomon Gottschalkson in 1797. Samuel Hays married Richea Gratz (1774-1858) in 1794. The socially prominent couple was active in Congregation Mikveh Israel and supported the Philadelphia Library, the Chestnut Street Theater, and a number of local artists.
