1519. Woodcut on laid paper. An early impression of the second state, with monogram but without any evidence of cracking through the coat of arms, hat, or hair. Possibly an early trial proof unknown to Meder; the monogram has an errant mark beneath the right side of the "A" that does not appear in other known impressions of this state; it was likely trimmed away for subsequent impressions and editioning. The impression prints strongly and clearly on the upper half but is lighter and uneven, in the lower half, particularly in the lower right quadrant, with an unidentified watermark above Maximilian's hat. The paper is in good condition, with some buckling in the middle center right near the column, otherwise in very good condition. With narrow margins at left, lower, and right edges; trimmed to within the border along the top edge.
Sheet size: 20 7/8 x 15 1/16 in. (53 x 38.2cm)
