Provenance: Property Deaccessioned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association.
Acquired by Helen Ellery Sedgwick Mead (1861-1947) and presented to the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association in 1942.
By tradition, this card table and a pair of girandole candlesticks were supposedly won in a wager by Robert Sedgwick, first speaker of the House of Representatives, from George Washington.
