Note
In addition to being an artist, James Nares is a filmmaker and a musician. Born in London, Nares studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and has works in major museum collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Albright-Knox Art Museum. Known for her large-scale calligraphic brushstroke paintings, the present work, which combines metallic pigment and enamel, is a departure from the artist’s gestural strokes compositions with its graphically bold, linear design.
