Note
The fully rigged ship Philadelphia was built in 1832 for John Griswold by Christian Bergh (1763-1843) & Co. in New York. In 1841, under Captain E.E. Morgan, the ship purportedly carried Joseph Bonaparte to London. The Philadelphia's ownership passed to the Black Diamond Line, the Liverpool Packets Line and in 1854, The New Line. Shuttling between Philadelphia and Liverpool, the ship sailed under the commands of Captain William Stotesbury and Captain George W. Foulke.
The model building, J.S. Kamp was a member of the Philadelphia Ship Model Society for many years.
