Audubon’s watercolor. 38 x 25 9/16 in. (97 x 65 cm). Sheet slightly trimmed; a few scattered surface abrasions, one restored within leaf in image, top right; light mat burn along edges; a few scattered spots; scattered light surface soiling. In mat and in frame, 40 5/8 x 31 3/4 in. (103 x 81 cm). Low, p. 113, Variant No. 2

Plate CLXXVII from Audubon's The Birds of America (London, 1827-38). "Painting and plate depict a pair of White-crowned Pigeons in a branch of a Geiger-tree. Audubon painted these birds in Indian Key, Florida, in April, 1832." (Susanne M. Low, A Guide to Audubon's Birds of America, p. 113)
