a heart shape, fancy dark gray-yellowish green diamond, weighing 2.19 carats, also know as a "Chameleon" diamond for its ability to change colors under certain conditions and also phosphoresce.
Provenance: Accompanied by GIA report # 5161354343, dated July 17, 2014, stating that the diamond is natural fancy dark gray-yellowish green with even distribution and termed 'Chameleon'.
Chameleon diamond is unique in that it naturally changes color when exposed to prolonged fluorescent light or deprived of light. When returning to daylight it then reverts back to it's base color. Extreme tempertatures can also cause the chameleon diamond to display color variations. Another unique characteristic is if a chameleon diamond is saturated with fluorescent light, it can phosphoresce for up to one hour.
Currently the GIA does not have an explanation for why a chameleon diamond changes color.
