A Central Indian carved pink sandstone figure of a Goddess
11th-12th century

Possibly the Jain Goddess Padmavati, the voluptuous bejeweled four-armed goddess depicted seated in rajaliasana, holding attributes including a lotus bud and rosary, her face with almond-shaped eyes, a faint smile on her lips.

Provenance: Mme. Viviane Harroch, Villefranche sur Mer, France (Acquired by her parents in Paris before 1975, probably from Maison Perret-Vibert [according to an attestation provided to the present owners by Harroch in 2015])
