Grasse [France], February 27, 1921. 3pp. 4to. Autograph letter on Cassatt‘s Villa Angeletto letterhead, with minor wear.
To Mr. Vail [presumably the French-American painter Eugène Lawrence Vail], “You must at this time be on your way back from your long trip...I envy you not your present journey,...but your immunity from sea-sickness , which has always been so dreadful to me. There is no archeology, no architecture and no art in Morocco and that is what interests me, as for nature, mountains and sea we have at Nice...The conference will be over when you land,...,...we must begin to open to Russia...In Montevideo... economic conditions are terrible... The same in Bueno-Ayers where communism is in the majority... Mrs. Havemeyer went to Washington on the 14th for a week with the women delegates, the first time in history as she writes that men and women were put on equality to discuss political questions...”.
