Tall folio, 56 leaves, self wrappers. Logbook, written entirely in MS., for the Brig, Lovely Lass, commanded by Captain Jno. (Jonathan) B. Hodgson, on its route to the capital of the Dutch East Indies, Batavia (now Jakarta, Indonesia). Recording daily weather conditions, wind patterns, course directions, cargo shipments delivered and received, as well as some interactions between the crew, including an incident on Sunday March 23, 1806, involving a "quarrel".

Charles Macalester (1765-1832) of Philadelphia often accompanied ships acting as a supercargo and presumably made this voyage. The Lovely Lass was a 204 ton Brig built in 1795 in Philadelphia.
