*A fine and rare pair of Chinese carved hardwood, possibly "huanghuali", corner-leg painting tables, Tiaozhuo
Qing dynasty

Of rectangular, waisted form, elaborately carved with a proliferation of archaistic scrollwork interspersed with lotus leaves and blossoms, detailed spandrels and hoof feet; the second with later hoof feet.

Provenance: Property of a Colorado Gentleman; acquired by an American oil company executive in Singapore in the 1940s, thence by descent
