A Japanese inlaid lacquer "Ho-o and Kiri" writing box 日本时绘文具盒一件及包装木盒子

The rectangular body with rounded corners and inset rim, lacquered with a phoenix standing on a paulownia tree on cover, flowers inlaid with mother of pearl, all in gold and slightly-colored takamaki-e; a red sun and hiramaki-e clouds to the interior of the cover; interior fitted with a parcel-gilt inkstone and a "Moon and Clouds" water dropper; ink and lacquer inscriptions to the Japanese wood box.
