View of the Wodehouse ancestral home in Kimberley, Norfolk, north-west of Wymondham. The Wodehouse family owned land in Kimberley as early as the late 14th century. John Wodehouse built the original tower that stood at the site of the Hall in 1400, and his son John Wodehouse Esq. was granted large estates by Henry V as a reward for distinguished conduct in the Battle of Agincourt. Queen Elizabeth was known to have visited the hall in 1578, and the current house was erected around 1659 by Sir Philip Wodehouse. The Earl of Kimberley was created in 1866 for John Wodehouse, 3rd Baron Wodehouse. After WWII the 4th Earl of Kimberley began liquidating the estate, and it now functions as an events venue.
