Artist Biography
An American ceramicist known for his wide range of wheel-thrown decorative and functional ware, John Fassbinder was a fixture of the studio ceramics movement in California and the Pacific Northwest.. He received his B.A. from the University of Washington, Seattle, and his M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate School, Claremont, California. Among his many academic positions, Fassbinder taught at Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles and later at Pomona College, where he taught for 11 years. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York; The Seattle Art Museum; The Los Angeles County Museum or Art; and the Pasadena Art Museum. Among the institutional holdings of his work are pieces in the Claremont Museum of Art, Claremont, California and the American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pomona, California.
