Ippolita Rostagno

Ippolita Rostagno was born in 1963 in Florence, Italy, to an American artist and an Italian intellectual. She was raised in Tuscany, where she went on to study sculpture at the Instituto D'Arte in Florence.

At age 18, she moved to Los Angeles to study at Occidental College, where she met colleague Anna Stump. The two founded a poetry and dance company together in 1984. By 1986, she had moved to New York City, where she married a fashion photographer, with whom she had a daughter, Maya, in 1988.

Rostagno had already established her name in the art world when she founded her jewelry brand, Ippolita, in 1999. Her first designs were bought by Bergdorf Goodman, which led her to immediate success as a jewelry designer.

Rostagno is quoted as having said, "I love the idea of women buying jewelry for themselves. It's wonderful to have witnessed a confidence revolution: the modern woman waits for no one, she buys jewelry for herself."

The quote perfectly embodies the spirit of Ippolita's designs, combining comfort, exuberance, and class to market itself to women of all ages.
