Van Cleef and Arpels

The story of Van Cleef & Arpels begins in 1895, when Estelle Arpels, the daughter of a precious gemstone deal, and Alfred Van Cleef, the song of a diamond broker, were married. The two shared a sense of family loyalty, innovation, and a love of jewelry and precious gemstones.

Van Cleef & Arpels officially opened its doors in 1906, when Van Cleef partnered with Estelle Arpels' brothers to open the first storefront in Paris. The Maison still stands at its original address at 22 Place Vendôme, right across the street from the Ritz Hotel.

The company saw such success that between the years of 1910 and 1920, they opened stores in Nice, Deauville, Vichy, Lyon, and Cannes. By the early 1940's, they opened boutiques in New York City and Palm Beach.

Van Cleef & Arpels has long been known for their associated with exclusive celebrities, such as Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, the Duchess of Windsor, and more. Their whimsical motifs, exclusive clientele, and innovative design continue to pervade the jewelry world and seat Van Cleef & Arpels as one of the leading jewelry manufacturers today.
