A Chinese painted grey pottery figure of a court lady
Tang dynasty, first half 8th century

Dressed in a long-sleeved, high-waisted robe that falls in vertical folds to the square base, covering her feet; holding both hands in front of her. Her hair is neatly arranged covering the back of her neck and tied into an extravagant chignon. The results of Oxford Authentication ltd. thermoluminescence test, #C299b71, September 22, 1999, are stated to be consistent with the suggested date of manufacture.
