A large Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl
mid 17th Century

With barbed rim, the exterior painted with panels depicting figures in landscapes, divided by panels of stylized flowers, the interior centered by a river landscape with pavilions, the cavetto with figural and floral panels within a border of stylised flowers.

Provenance: Property from a private American Collection

NOTE: The bowl is interesting as it illustrates the mixture of Dutch and Chinese decorative motifs in the 17th Century, as trade between East and West was burgeoning.
