London: Barrie & Jenkins (1970). 8vo. 192 pp. First edition. Inscribed by Wodehouse to American lyricist Ira Gershwin: "To/Ira/All the best/from/Plum/P.G. Wodehouse/Dec. 22 1970". Original blue cloth-covered boards, stamped in gilt, a couple of bumps to extremities; in the original pictorial dust jacket with light toning to extremities, one short closed tear to top edge near spine panel, a couple of tiny nicks to edges. McIlvaine A93a. Together with: Autograph letter, signed by Ethel Wodehouse and addressed to Ira and Lee Gershwin. On P.G. Wodehouse's Long Island, NY stationary. Dec 27 - 1971. 2pp. In the original envelope. "Plum has been quite ill, but he is having oxygen every day, and he is much better now..."

Ira Gershwin (1896-1983) was an American lyricist who, along with his brother, composer George Gershwin, wrote more than a dozen Broadway musicals throughout his career. Gershwin and Wodehouse worked together on two major productions, "Oh, Kay!" (1926) and "Rosalie" (1928).
