Note
Anna Thomson Dodge (1871-1970) was a notable collector of eighteenth-century French fine and decorative arts. Widow of the automobile magnate Horace Dodge, in her lifetime she was one of the wealthiest women in the world. In the 1930s, Dodge built Rose Terrace in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, a lavish French-style mansion designed by Horace Trumbauer and decorated by Alavoine & Cie and Joseph Duveen of the Duveen Brothers. Following her death in 1970, most of the contents were auctioned off by Christie’s in 1971 and Rose Terrace was demolished in 1976.
