NOTE:
A Canadian from Ontario, Armington traveled to Paris in 1899 to study at the Académie Julian. He returned in 1905 and would live in the city until 1939. Armington painted numerous scenes from around the city, including the Tuileries Garden and the Boulevard de la Madeleine. In many instances, the artist painted from an elevated viewpoint, reminiscent of Monet's Boulevard des Capucines.
