Similar in form to a desk and bookcase signed by Daniel Spencer (1741-1801), a nephew to John Goddard who worked in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island and Dartmouth, Massachusetts, offered by Levy Galleries (item number 6358). The "Angell" inscription may refer to a member of the early Rhode Island family or Angell street in Providence.
