Thirty-third president Harry S. Truman writes to his friend Richard R. Nacy: "Dear Dick: I enjoyed that luncheon, over which you presided, very very much and I was particularly pleased with the thousand dollar check which you and Howard Cook gave me. It was a grand day from start to finish. Sincerely yours, Harry Truman. Looks as if I was in the midst of a legislative fight. Hope I didn't add to it."
