A private New Jersey collection.
Note
By tradition, this cann was passed down from Congressman Thomas Newbold (1760-1823) of New Jersey. The cann's original owner was Ann Newbold (1733-1809), who married Anthony Taylor (1734-1785) in 1766. It passed to their daughter Mary Taylor (1768-1811), possibly on her marriage in 1789 to Thomas Newbold (1760-1823), who later served as a congressman in New Jersey. The cann was subsequently passed down through his family.
