NOTE:
Born in Rudyard, Montana, Clyde Aspevig began painting at an early age. An artist and educator, his deep attachment to the Western landscape is evident in his body of work. He often works en plein air and finished his paintings in his studio, setting up his peripatetic field easel in various locations such as the mountains and prairies of Montana, Death Valley, Adirondacks, and the North Atlantic coast. Commenting on the ephemerality and majesty of the land, his paintings of the West and other natural settings are evocations of places that Aspevig perceives as already disappearing during his own lifetime, subjects worthy of both artistic and societal preservation.
