It is believed that Martin and Hannah Robbins Kellogg, who married in 1773, were the original owners of this high chest. Martin Kellogg fought in the Revolutionary War and was a distinguished citizen of Newington. He was responsible for the 1776 Census of Newington to raise funds under the direction of the Continental Congress.
