An American silver-gilt 'Strawberry' basket
Tiffany & Co., New York, circa 1860

In the form of a wire or straw basket fully entwined with leafy fruiting strawberry foliage crisply modeled and carefully chased, above a similarly conceived socle and base with beaded and meander-patterned foot, the underside struck "Tiffany & C. Sterling" together with the pattern number 834 (with the 4 overstruck by a 3) and 8608 with the gothic lower case M for John C. Moore (1845-1868).
