A matched pair of blue and white porcelain "Qilin and Foreign Attendants" dishes
Wanli six-character mark and of the period

The interior decorated with two foreigners, one bering a ruyi head, the other an elephant tusk, flanking a caparisoned qilin, in a landscape, lotus-scroll border, the outside adorned with lanterns and auspicious treasures. Six character mark to the underside. NOTE: for another dish of this pattern, see the example sold Sotheby's, London, November 12, 2003, lot 155.
