An unusual mother of pearl-embellished lacquered bronze figure of Liu Hai and toad
late Ming-early Qing dynasty, 17th-18th century

Liu Hai seated, looking up in adoration at the toad perched on his head, the lacquer of his loose robe and spots of toad inlaid with mother of pearl patterns, dark brown patina to bronze.
