Red cloth-covered boards, stamped in black; all edges trimmed; ownership signature in pencil on recto of rear free endpaper; lacking dust-jacket. McIlvaine B2a4. Together with: [Geyer, Siegfried] Wodehouse, P.G. (adaptation) Candle-Light New York, November 11, 1929. Program from the first production, at The Empire Theatre, starring Gertrude Lawrence, which opened on September 30 and ran for 128 performances.

Gertrude Lawrence (1898-1952) was an English actress, singer, dancer, and musical comedy performer. She was the first British performer to star in an American musical on Broadway when she appeared in "Oh, Kay!" (1926), with music by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin, and a book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse. In 1929 she appeared opposite Leslie Howard in "Candlelight", an Austrian play adapted by Wodehouse, and Lawrence's first non-musical acting role.
