Note
In 1903, Walter Schofield and his wife Murielle Redmayne settled in the artist's community of St. Ives, Cornwall. The present view of Eastby was most likely executed while the couple was on vacation in the nearby town of Ingleton during the summer of 1906, and finished by the artist once back in his St. Ives studio in 1907. That same year, the painting was included in Schofield's Cornish Show Day Exhibition. It was then sold locally by the artist himself circa 1910 and remained unnoticed until its recent rediscovery.
