The present watercolor was executed on September 10, 1916, on the same day as September Meadows (Private Collection). Both depict the same expansive landscape, with the difference that September Sunlight focuses on a cornfield in the foreground, looking toward two bare, bright orange trees, rolling fields, and a wide sky.
