Both dubbed “New York’s reigning arbiters of beauty, celebrity, success and fame” by The Guardian, Andy Warhol and Diane Vreeland were close friends for most of their lives, despite their two headstrong characters. As the editor of Vogue Magazine, Vreeland first knew Warhol through his work as a commercial illustrator, which she found “charming." At first a good companion, and an incredible source of gossip for Warhol who attended her parties and infiltrated her circle, Vreeland soon became the symbol of bossiness, and imperious behavior. Here, Vreeland is captured in profile, standing regally like a modern, inflexible Ruler of Style.
