Washington, D.C., circa 1949-61. 1 p. 10 9/16 x 8 in. (268 x 203 mm). Original doodle in graphite; on United States Senate stationery.
Very amusing doodle of the comedic team The Three Stooges, sketched by future thirty-sixth president Lyndon B. Johnson, sometime during his years in the Senate. Johnson curiously confuses Curly and Larry. One wonders which three colleagues or what events might have inspired Johnson.
Provenance: Congressman Michael J. Kirwan of Ohio (1886-1970); Mrs. Michael J. Kirwan, thence by gift to present owner.
