Sell your Books, Maps, Manuscripts with Freeman's
A book sale was Freeman’s first significant auction upon its opening in 1805. As the first “purpose-built” auction house in the United States, Freeman’s Books, Maps & Manuscripts Department enjoys the privilege of continuing this tradition in the welcoming environment of its current location (since 1924) on Chestnut Street in the heart of Philadelphia.
From the earliest printed books, to modern first editions, private press, illustrated and children’s books, landmarks of science and medicine, travel and exploration, including manuscript, engraved and lithographic maps, and works reflective of American and world history, historical, architectural and natural history prints--are all mere touchstones in the world of cultural possibilities we embrace with our clients.
