Freeman's | Hindman's Native American Art department handles Native art of North America that spans centuries. These works are found in the forms of textiles, jewelry, pottery, basketry, beadwork, paintings, and sculpture sold out of the Cincinnati and Denver salerooms.
As a leader in the industry, Freeman’s | Hindman’s Historic Native American Art auctions have sold over $50 million throughout the past 25 years. These auctions offer works from the 17th century to the early 20th century, focusing on early effigy pipes, tobacco bags, moccasins, clubs and tomahawks, Navajo weavings, Pueblo pottery, baskets from California, the Great Basin and Southwest, and Northwest Coast, Iñupiat and Inuit sculpture, carvings, and tools.
Our dedicated Native American jewelry auctions, held twice a year, celebrate the fabrications of silver and turquoise creations by artists such as Charles Loloma, Juan de Dios, Leekya Deyuse, Lambert Homer, and Lee Yazzie.
The department works with a comprehensive network of important dealers, private collectors, and museums, and has presented outstanding single-owner collections at auction including The Lifetime Collection of Forrest Fenn ($1.7M) and The Marilyn Eber Collection of Native American Art ($963K).
