Debrah Dunner has over 15 years of combined education and professional experience working in both the private and public art world. She graduated with dual Bachelors of Fine Art in Art History and Art Education from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, and established her background in Fine Art and Contemporary American Craft while attending school and working at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She continued her education at Georgetown University receiving a Masters of Art degree through Georgetown’s Museum Studies program, a specialized and unique partnership curriculum with the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. 

While in London, she studied Art & Business under the tutelage of Anders Peterson, founder of ArtTactic, the world’s foremost progressive art market analysis firm, and Henry Lydiate, the United Kingdom’s leading art lawyer. Debrah also focused on 17th, 18th, and 19th century European Fine and Decorative Arts under the close instruction of Britain’s top scholars including Angus Haldane, former Senior Expert at Sotheby’s and Christie’s, and Helena Pickup of the Wallace Collection and the Courtauld Institute.

From 2010-2014, Debrah worked as Assistant Curator for the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, the nation’s premier Craft and Decorative Arts museum. While employed at the Renwick Gallery, she assisted in the creation of numerous exhibitions and scholarly publications including the monumental 40th anniversary exhibition 40 Under 40: Craft Futures, and the internationally recognized exhibition WONDER. While working directly with Curator Nicholas Bell, her skills as an art researcher, writer, arts administrative specialist, and education in Contemporary American Craft were refined.

Earlier in her career, Debrah also worked as Gallery Manager for the Contemporary art gallery Heineman Myers, and Fine Art Specialist at Weschler’s Auctioneers and Appraisers in Washington, D.C.

Debrah is an accredited Associate Member (AM) of the American Society of Appraisers, and has successfully completed the American Society of Appraisers Personal Property Education Course through the Rhode Island School of Design, along with the National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course taught by an Appraisal Standards Board (ASB)-certified National USPAP instructor.  She is also a member of ArtTable and the American Craft Council. She is a former recipient of a National Scholastic Art and Writing Award Gold Key, and a Women’s in the White House and Leadership Award.
