Southern California native Lourdes Winnick is a senior jewelry and watch specialist who serves the Philadelphia metropolitan, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware areas. Winnick is a bilingual specialist who brings two decades of hands-on jewelry evaluation experience to Freeman's, specializing in Swiss timepieces, platinum and gold period jewelry, large carat diamond sizes in the D-Z color range, fancy colors, and IF, FL, VVS, and VS clarity ranges.

Prior to joining Freeman's in 2021, she was a founding partner of two successful fine jewelry retail stores in Long Beach, California, which specialized in designer jewelry, hard-to-find Rolex watches, appraisals, repairs, and antique jewelry restoration services. After relocating to the East Coast, Winnick continued her career in jewelry by accepting a position with a regional auction house, where she conceptualized and executed a fine jewelry department.

In addition to being a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America with a concentration on diamonds, Winnick is a Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses alumna. She is also a member of the International Society of Appraisers, The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, The American Society of Jewelry Historians, and the Philadelphia Chapter of the Women's Jewelry Assocation. Her involvement in these organizations, hands-on approach, and experience help Freeman's clients achieve auction success.

In Her Own Words ...

What's the most rewarding part of working in the auction industry?

Helping clients navigate the auction process. Consigning can be an emotional, challenging task—but being a client's representative and helping them get top dollar for their items, knowing America's oldest auction house will represent their properly beautifully, is extremely rewarding.

Name three artists/designers/makers you're excited Freeman's has sold or is offering.

Anything Tiffany & Co., of course, but the designer pieces of Angela Cummings and Jean Schlumberger are my favorite. Rolex watches are my favorite timepieces to offer at auction, mainly because the secondary market for sports models is all over the place. I like the excitement of providing them for sale and letting the market dictate the value.

What are your creative ventures/pursuits outside of Freeman's?

I like working with my hands and enjoy metalsmithing. In college, I had to drop my jewelry metalsmithing class to focus on biology for nursing, so I began teaching myself during my free time.

How would you describe the holy grail of a house call?

An appraisal of a fashionista's fine jewelry and haute couture collection.
