Michael Hartman

Michael Hartman serves as the Client Manager for Luxury Goods and Art and Design at Freeman’s. His areas of specialty include 20th-century decorative arts, late 19th-century works on paper, retail history, and the global luxury goods industry.

Prior to joining Freeman’s in 2021, he held various roles in the fine art and luxury retail industries for more than two decades. Hartman spent 12 years with a Philadelphia-based dealer of 19th-century art, starting as an assistant and eventually becoming director of the company. He has also worked as an independent art advisor and as a cataloguer and head of sale for a local estate auctioneer. Immediately prior to joining Freeman’s, he was a design specialist at a luxury interiors retailer, where he specialized in managing high-value residential and commercial design projects for clients across the country.

He earned a bachelor's degree in the History of Art from the University of Pennsylvania and is also an alumni of the Barnes Foundation.
